This word has appeared over and over recently?? .....a vessel for purifying metal......a process of reducing to core elements...?? I took this photograph at Bury Lights Night a few months ago and thought it was like a crucible. Then a few weeks ago I bought a print by Loraine Waites, a talented Printer who is also a member of Bury Collective. It's been a long time since I have bought a piece of art (for financial reasons) but I just had to have it....it was called ....yep .... Crucible. And then, on the day I was hanging my work for the exhibition, a lady came in and sat having a drink at a table in the middle of us, the book she was reading was The Crucible!! I am sure more of the meaning of this will be revealed as time passes, but, the day after my exhibition was hung I experienced one of those 'pockets of silence' and a strong sense of belonging........a belonging to myself. The exhibition and the experience of exposing myself without explanation has been life-changing........and I feel the connection......... x
