I had often experienced this coalition without defining it, until I watched Bruno Wolheim's David Hockney DVD. Today I experienced my hand deeply affecting the eye and the heart of another for the first time. This painting is called Trixie's Confetti.....and grew out of a deepening connection with a friend and her journey, which is inextricably linked with her dog Trixie.
Trixie and my friend are both physically challenged and both are beautiful in more ways than I can write of here. The inspiration for the beginning of the painting came from a photograph my friend took of Autumn leaves lying on the ground, they looked just like confetti. As I began to paint I felt more and more that Trixie should be included. Painting animals is not my thing so I kept ignoring it....and then I gave in to the impulse. I showed it today and it made my friend cry....again for reasons too numerous to speak of here. But, for my hand to create something that truly touches another's 'middle bit' is soooo good on so many levels........x
