"Sooner or later we will discover that the important moments in life
are not advertised ones, not the weddings and the birthdays, not
the great goals achieved. The real milestones are less pre-possessing.
They come to the door unannounced, stray dogs that amble in,
sniff around a bit and simply never leave. Our lives are measured by
these moments."

My painting life was haphazard and inconsistent and my journey here circuitous. Honouring the me that is an artist was a long time coming ...but it is TRULY .........better late than never. This part of my journey began when my Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and as I watched her and her dreams disappear I realised that WHAT IS
IMPORTANT IS WHAT YOU DO TODAY - NOT WHAT YOU HOPE TO DO TOMORROW. So I started to paint.
I paint from, what I have come to call, my 'middle bit' .... trying to capture the moment the Stray Dog Inspiration comes unannounced. I paint moments ....... before they melt away.
After I dipped my toe into my dream, I was unsure of the land....and followed spectres....As you will see from my Archive Paintings, I 'hitched lifts' from many who had gone before me....and my heart is still full of grateful wonder for the paths those artists illuminated for me. Without them I wouldnt be standing here now..... Now I know in my soul that the words of Henri Matisse are perfectly true .............
"You must forget all your theories, all your ideas before the subject. What part of these is really your own will be expressed in your expression of the emotion awakened by your subject"
To everyone who has ever touched my life - artists and non-artists alike; some toxic but most exquisite in their beauty .....THANK YOU x
I hope you enjoy viewing my work and, if a brushstroke or a colour or a moment captured, creates a 'connection' then we are both better off than before that moment ........................................ x
